Paul is well known nationally and internationally as an education technology strategy specialist. Since the late 1980s he has helped schools to make the most of their technology investment, from the first school based management information systems, through the introduction of networks, to the development of local authority and regional networks providing the services which schools need. He believes that technology in schools should work first time, every time, for everyone, wherever and whenever they need it.
He spent 18 years working for Birmingham local authority, including designing, building and managing the Birmingham Grid for Learning, connecting all Birmingham’s 450 schools to the Internet and providing e-mail and content services. He then worked for Becta for over 6 years, where he was Director for Technical Strategy. He is now enjoying working directly with schools again, and helping them to realise the benefits of the technology which they have invested in.
